Preparation of Adhesives
The hot melt and isocyanate terminated adhesives are prepared according to prepolymer procedures.
For testing the hot melt adhesive is molten at 90°C and applied to one side of the substrate. The substrate is then reheated and the second substrate under minimal pressure. The system is cured at 90°C for 1 hour.
Isocyanate terminated adhesives can be moisture cured or by chain extension with a diol or diamine reactant.
Most of the test methods for the raw materials for polyurethanes and the final products are described by ASTM
